Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini have been suspended for 90 days from any activity in football by FIFA s ethics committee

Yesterday the whole FIFA scandal took a new turn as the organisation’s ethics committee (really FIFA has an ethics committee) decided to suspend outgoing president Sepp Blatter, UEFA president Michel Platini and secretary general Jerome Valcke from football activity for 90 days

That suspension could be extended by a further 45 days and is in place while an investigation is conducted into the trio’s conduct takes place.

Valcke was already on leave from the organisation following an investigation into the Frenchman selling black market tickets for the 2014 World Cup.

It is just the latest development in an endless list of corruption …

Fiorentina captain Davide Astori has died, the Serie A club have confirmed.

It is reported the 31-year-old was found in his hotel room early on Sunday, just hours before their league clash with Udinese.

Fiorentina are profoundly upset to have to announce that captain Davide Astori has died, the club said in a statement.

Manchester United have joined the race to sign Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin, according to the Metro.

The Red Devils are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia who turns thirty-three in August while Matteo Darmian is almost certainly set to be moved on.

Bellerin only penned a six-year deal with the Gunners in October 2016 but attempted to engineer a move to Barcelona last summer.

New Juventus head coach Sarri took Jorginho to Chelsea from Napoli last season and has been tipped to sign him again ahead of his first campaign back in Italy s top flight.

Lyon have announced that their fans will temporarily be prevented from attending away games after crowd trouble saw their Coupe de France tie at Paris FC abandoned.

The last 64 clash at the Charlety stadium in the French capital was suspended in the second half, with the scoreline 1-1 after goals from Paris FC s Gaetan Laura and Lyon s Moussa Dembele.

Supporters appeared to be fighting in the stands and several flares were thrown before a number of fans made their way onto the pitch, stopping the game from continuing.

Melbourne Victory recruit Daniel Mullen said a fear of the unknown in China prompted him to return to Australia.

Mullen, 23, joined Victory on loan from Chinese club Dalian Aerbin, where he spent seven months following a stint with Adelaide United.

Tony Pulis has thanked Stoke City s fans for their role during his time at the club.

The Welshman s seven-year tenure ended on Tuesday and Pulis, who guided the club to promotion from the Championship in 2008, said the fans played a major part in helping Stoke become an established Premier League outfit.
In a letter published in The Staffordshire Sentinel, Pulis said: I d like to think I put out a competitive team that represented your club with the kind of pride you yourselves had in Stoke City and I d like to think I brought in players who will remain some of your favourites for ever and a day.
