The Merseyside club have tabled an offer of around £40m, with a further £5m in add-ons in a potential deal that would take their summer spending to over £130m.

Napoli have contacted Liverpool over the possibility of signing Nathaniel Clyne this summer, according to Liverpool Echo.

When he arrived at Anfield from Southampton back in 2015, Clyne quickly became an important part of the Liverpool defence, in those days often described as the most consistent player in the team. However, injury problems kept him out for most of the 2017/18 season, and young Trent Alexander-Arnold took his chance and imposed himself strongly for the right-back spot in the starting XI. With Joe Gomez perfectly capable of deputizing on the right defensive flank too, Clyne soon became surplus to requirements and spent the second half of this season on loan at Bournemouth.

The 29 year old Rojo first joined United back in 2014, and despite an initially strong start to life at Old Trafford, he hasn’t quite been able to maintain his consistency in the last few years. His last appearance for the club came back in December, when they lost to Valencia in the Champions League. In total he has only played three games this season, heightening the rumours that he could be destined for a move away. Rojo began his journey in football with Estudiantes at the youth level, signing for them way back in 2000.
