Barcelona looking at Saul

Barcelona reportedly tried to sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2017 and failed. However, being in need of quality midfielders they aren t prepared to give up just yet, according to .

The report also claims that the Blaugrana have an agreement with Atleti in place, dating back to the sale of David Villa in 2013, which allows them to have the first pick on two of Madrid club s youngsters at the time Javier Manquillo and Saul Niguez. This means that, should Atletico ever receive an offer for Saul they would be willing to accept from any other club, they would be obligated to contact Barcelona and offer the versatile midfielder under the same conditions to them first. If so, it is a significant boost in their pursuit of the player and makes Camp Nou his most l…

Guardiola not surprised by Solskjaer scrutiny: ´Everything is doubled at Manchester United´

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is not surprised by the scrutiny Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing at Manchester United having felt similar pressure during his Barcelona tenure.

Solskjaer s future has been the subject of widespread speculation this week following last weekend s historic 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League.

United lost by five or more goals without scoring for the first time since February 1955 in what was Liverpool s biggest ever margin of victory against their fierce rivals.

The Red Devils are seventh in the table with nine games played, already eight points behind leaders Chelsea, and have won just six of their 13 matches in all competitions

Solskjaer has spoken to United s board but has not sought any assurances about hi…

Napoli make Clyne contact

Napoli have contacted Liverpool over the possibility of signing Nathaniel Clyne this summer, according to Liverpool Echo.

When he arrived at Anfield from Southampton back in 2015, Clyne quickly became an important part of the Liverpool defence, in those days often described as the most consistent player in the team. However, injury problems kept him out for most of the 2017/18 season, and young Trent Alexander-Arnold took his chance and imposed himself strongly for the right-back spot in the starting XI. With Joe Gomez perfectly capable of deputizing on the right defensive flank too, Clyne soon became surplus to requirements and spent the second half of this season on loan at Bournemouth.

While Jurgen Klopp is looking to prune his squad a bit, Napoli are looking to bols…

Rojo set to train with Estudiantes

According to a recent report from Estudiantes themselves, Manchester United have given Marcos Rojo permission to train with the Argentine club. The 29 year old Rojo first joined United back in 2014, and despite an initially strong start to life at Old Trafford, he hasn’t quite been able to maintain his consistency in the last few years. His last appearance for the club came back in December, when they lost to Valencia in the Champions League. In total he has only played three games this season, heightening the rumours that he could be destined for a move away. Rojo began his journey in football with Estudiantes at the youth level, signing for them way back in 2000. He spent 11 years with the club before moving to Spartak Moscow, which eventually led him to Sporting Lisbon.

Lampard opens up on Chelsea departure: Unless you win back-to-back titles, you´re likely to be sacke

Frank Lampard has opened up on his Chelsea departure and says only winning back-to-back titles would have prevented him from being sacked.

Chelsea parted ways with club legend Lampard in January, 18 months into his second managerial job, and went on to win the Champions League under successor Thomas Tuchel.

Lampard finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final in his only full campaign at Stamford Bridge, despite having to operate under a transfer ban that saw him promote a number of youngsters to the first team.

But the 43-year-old was made to pay for a poor run of form in the middle of last season and was sacked with the club ninth after 19 games.

Discussing the circumstances surrounding his exit on Gary Neville s The Overlap Y…

Manchester City v Liverpool: Klopp and Guardiola face off with tables turned

He would have to reflect on back-to-back losses against Crystal Palace and Leicester City and a damaged Premier League title defence for a little longer, but Pep Guardiola leaned mischievously forward on his desk and broke

into a grin.

Speaking ahead of Sunday s restorative 3-1 win over Southampton, the Manchester City manager was asked whether the playing philosophy he was told would struggle under Premier League scrutiny – only to yield 100 points last term– might be due for a rethink during this mid-season turbulence.

Oh, I was waiting for that question, he said before adding, with a deliberate head shake: That is not going to happen.

No way. Why should I change? Because I lost two games? No way – that is not going to happen.
