Lingard hails United´s fighting spirit after Burnley draw

Jesse Lingard hailed Manchester United s fighting spirit after they fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Burnley.

The England international was dropped from the starting line-up in the wake of the 2-2 draw with Leicester City last week but came off the bench to snatch a point for his side at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

United were 2-0 down at half-time thanks to goals from Ashley Barnes and Steven Defour before Lingard rescued a result, backheeling Ashley Young s cross home to halve the deficit and firing in his side s second in injury time.

The result means Premier League leaders Manchester City could pull 15 points clear at the top if they beat Newcastle United on Wednesday but Lingard feels United s attitude may count for plenty come the end of the season.<…

Barrios keen to sign off with win

Lucas Barrios is desperate to beat Bayern Munich in Saturday s DFB Pokal final in Berlin in order to end his Borussia Dortmund career on a high.

The Paraguay international has already signed a contract with Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande, but wants to complete the domestic double with BVB before saying farewell to the Bundesliga champions.

My biggest wish is to win the DFB Pokal final in my last game for Dortmund. I want to say farewell to the fans by winning the double. Preferably by scoring against Bayern in Saturday s game, Barrios told Bild.

I am leaving BVB with tears in my eyes. I have had three fantastic seasons here. I have learned a lot here, also during this season. Borussia Dortmund will forever have a place in my heart.

Adelaide United defender Daniel Mullen has signed with Chinese Super League club Dalian Aerbin.

The 22-year-old centre-back has already flown to China to sign a two-year-deal with the newly-promoted side.

Dalian, who are midtable in China s top flight, have recently made it clear they will release Australian Mile Sterjovski to open up a spot for Mullen.

Adelaide s Football Director Michael Petrillo confirmed the move is set to be finalised and that the club will benefit from the fee received for the transfer.

Dalian Aerbin came to us with a substantial fee for Daniel and he expressed his desire to head to China, Petrillo said.

It was a decision we did not take lightly because Daniel is an integral part of our squad and while it is always sad to…

CAF reaffirms support for Blatter

Sepp Blatter will have the full support of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the upcoming FIFA elections, says president Issa Hayatou.

Speaking at the CAF general assembly on Tuesday, Hayatou backed Blatter to secure a fifth term at the helm of world football despite the presence of three other candidates for the role.

Throughout his tenure Blatter has campaigned on behalf of African football, and was the driving force behind South Africa hosting the 2010 World Cup.

During the last General Assembly of CAF in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 8 June 2014, Africa decided to totally support Sepp Blatter for a new term at the helm of FIFA, said Hayatou. At that time, he had not even declared his candidature.

Silva signs new AC Milan deal

AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has ended speculation surrounding his future, signing a five-year deal with the Serie A giants.

The Brazil international was believed to be close to leaving Milan for Paris Saint-Germain last month, but the move eventually fell through after club president Silvio Berlusconi vetoed the transfer.

Silva s agent responded to the failed transfer by demanding a new and improved deal for his client, and the centre-back has now ended all speculation about his future by inking a one-year extension to his previous contract.

The 27-year-old joined AC Milan from Fluminense in the summer of 2009 and has since developed into one of AC Milan s undisputed stars, making over 100 official appearances for the 2010/11 Serie A champions.

AC Milan 1 Juventus 0: Locatelli wondergoal seals controversial victory

Manuel Locatelli s stunning strike earned AC Milan a 1-0 victory over Serie A leaders Juventus, who controversially had a Miralem Pjanic goal ruled out at San Siro.

Teenage midfielder Locatelli fired a sensational effort beyond Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon in the 65th minute, with Vincenzo Montella s side consequently moving to within two points of their table-topping opponents on his 200th Serie A match as a head coach.

The champions may feel hard done by, though, with Pjanic seeing a goal chalked off in the first half due to a debatable offside decision against Medhi Benatia.

After losing Paulo Dybala to injury, the midfielder s 35-yard free-kick flew beyond the outstretched leg of Leonardo Bonucci, who raced in from a legal position, to nestle in the back …

Can anybody clean-up FIFA?

Manchester United in for Bellerin

Manchester United have joined the race to sign Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin, according to the Metro.

The Red Devils are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia who turns thirty-three in August while Matteo Darmian is almost certainly set to be moved on.

Bellerin only penned a six-year deal with the Gunners in October 2016 but attempted to engineer a move to Barcelona last summer.

Arsenal were keen to keep hold of the twenty-two year old though they may now be willing to listen to offers as they look to reshape their squad next season.

Aside from a brief loan spell with Watford prior to breaking into Arsene Wenger’s first team Bellerin has spent his entire career at the Emirates Stadium racking up over one hundred and fi…

We´ll wait and see – Jorginho agent not ruling out Juventus move

Jorginho s previous spell at Napoli will not stop him from reuniting with Maurizio Sarri at Serie A rivals Juventus, according to the Chelsea midfielder s agent.

New Juventus head coach Sarri took Jorginho to Chelsea from Napoli last season and has been tipped to sign him again ahead of his first campaign back in Italy s top flight.

The 27-year-old failed to truly adapt to Premier League football following his reported £50million switch, leading to suggestions that he could be heading for a swift Serie A return after just 11 months at Stamford Bridge.

And Jorginho s representative Joao Santos said, while the player is not actively seeking a move, a transfer cannot be ruled out.
